OUR ORIGIN
From Local Empowerment to a Global Mission
The Stephen & Judith Igwe International Educational Foundation was born out of a decade-long commitment to human capital development. For years, Stephen Uchenna Igwe, a Chartered Accountant and current Commissioner at the Ebonyi State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, alongside his wife, Judith Chinenye Igwe MSc, also a professional Accountant, have been silent pillars of support in their communities.
As graduates of Ebonyi State University, the founders recognized early on that many brilliant students fall through the cracks—not due to a lack of intellect, but a lack of means. What began as private grants and scholarships to help university students overcome financial hurdles has now evolved into a structured foundation. Our goal is simple: to scale this impact beyond Ebonyi State and Nigeria, ensuring that talented and underprivileged children everywhere have the resources to excel.
Our mission
To provide comprehensive educational sponsorships and mentorship to underprivileged and talented students. We aim to remove the financial barriers that prevent brilliant minds from reaching their full potential, ensuring a smooth path from primary school to higher education.
Our vision
To become a global leader in educational philanthropy, where every talented child—regardless of their economic background—has the opportunity to lead, innovate, and thrive in an interconnected world.
Our story
Rooted in the personal philanthropy of Stephen and Judith Igwe, our foundation grew from local community grants in Ebonyi State into an international movement. We are built on the belief that those who have been blessed with success have a duty to pave the way for others.
THE VISIONARIES
Leading with Professional Integrity and a Heart for Service
For Stephen and Judith Igwe, education was the foundation of their own success. As proud alumni of Ebonyi State University, they understand the grit required to succeed and the heartbreak of seeing talent wasted due to a lack of funds.
By combining their expertise in financial management with a deep-rooted commitment to public service, they have transitioned from private philanthropists to the leaders of an international movement. Their goal is to move beyond temporary aid and create a sustainable system of empowerment that follows a student from their first day of school to their first day of a career.
